“i completely agree… the beautifully researched masterpieces that he has executed, almost poetic in their grandeur, it just makes me marvel each and every time.”

At this point in the conversation I’m often prone to be thinking whether the two intellectuals thus conversing have even read Joyce. Because honestly, Ive tried, gotten through a book in 5 tries (Ulysses) and not understood one single word. I guess the man did a lot of research because it does contain a lot of 9th grader info about maths and science and perhaps some college level info on biology and anatomy; but it was just So confusing. Yet i pretend to be in agreement with them.

I make a point of reading all those classics and those award winning works. Indeed I have quite a few bragging rights. Yesterday, however, I was in a discussion with two of my juniors who are not so opposed to the literary arts as others,and it was quite boringly snobbish. Topic of argument ‘Why reading chetan bhagat and liking him means you have a bad literary palette.’

R: No but it doesnt mean that you have to be stupid or not well read to like him. Hes not that bad!

A: Seriously have you read him? i couldnt finish the books because they were so bad! His english , is colloquial and ‘iitan’ised. you cant be serious and say that thats good. I mean the level of intelligence that it would take to appreciate chetan bhagat is .. quite low.

R. Yes i agree that u dont need to be extremely smart to enjoy it but that doesnt mean its not good.

Me: no but R, you have to take into account that any of the well loved classics have a reason to be called classic. Characters with a good build up, coherence in the story, and most importantly a story: presented in great language and executed wich panache.

A: i completely agree. the thing is, a buffoon can understand a chetan bhagat story. he doesnt question the gaping holes, and the inadequacy of good language which makes for pleasureful reading. he seems to be executing it with style, but the only style is the so called coolness which the young and hep setting gives it. the story is weak, and like a cheap romantic comedy. it doesnt take a genuis to write it.

R. yes so i guess you are saying that its not a literary achievement.

Me: of course.. blahblahablah blaaaah blahab albabhj

so it continues.. and ultimately R agreed that Chetan Bhagat wasnt good literature. But then again, R is also a literary snob like us. He was simply arguing that way to act smart and cool and bohemian in his tastes in literature. How very pretentious. Ill go and read William Thackeray now.. or perhaps Tolstoy.. sigh.

i just saw the previous post. haha .its been so long since i wrote here. it occurs to me that ive been writing in a so called diary. and its total random nonsense. sometimes written in boredom because of the jobless hell im sitting in. anyways, the blog factory starts and for a while ill be putting up posts which i guess some people might read . or not. whatever. sad. im chatting it seems. gotta stop that. right. yes. roger. over and out.

Here i am at long last … in front of a screen at 12:09 in the morning(night) whatever… just to be thorough ill add the date , its 12 /26 /09. Yes I know im not american and it’s dreadfully affected to write it like that when im not american but i WANT to.. and this is my blog so i will.. my blog not yours. haha . so there.

So the weighty issue is literally weight. Mine again. Its been holding steady at .. oh my god u thought i was going to really reveal that? you think i’m stupid dont you..yea how d’you like that haan..

Anyways, another year is going by, and i have literally achieved nothing to show for it. i feel sad.

haha gotcha. No I don’t. in fact I m supremely satisfied with my utter un-productiveness; my laziness has achieved garfieldesque proportions(semicolon usage indicates education , I bet u didn’t know that). hence i have resolved to switch to smart chips (roasted, not fried) and keep my weight under control without abandoning my laziness.

I know this post was pretty useless but at least i wrote. Boo yah. im still better than you.

I belong to the third generation of curly tops in the family.. and no one complains as much as I.. ( it is correct and it shud not be ‘me’) The mass of unruly , untameable ringlets that i call my hair had given me a distinctive identity in high school…. of all the names i was called, centre shock was the kindest.. At times i resented it. At times i was bored.. But i never stopped envying those perfect little misses with the ramrod straight, silky black curtains..

At family reunions, I wasnt much better off.. my curly haired cousins were, to say the least, extremely fashionable and modelesque.. I was the only one whose mop was a liability rather than an asset..It has something to do maybe with the jute-like texture or maybe the loser haircut that i sported, it looked like a bad 80′s afro.. If anyone looks at the clan photographs, id be skulking somewhere at the back trying to hide behind the taller people…

i still do try to hide as much as possible behind taller and wider(if possible) people in the group photos.. but this is somewhere i wont hide.. I have not revamped this blog because i was bored and had nothing to do… its cause i needed a place to bang my head without worrying about lookin likea n electrocution victim after it.. and well partly coz i was bored and had nothing to do.. anyways .. this is my world and how i see it.
